History of BowersoxMeat Market LLC
The Bowersox Family has been providing quality meat products to the local communities for over 120 years. The original outlet for these products was a small meat market located on Broad Street in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and was known as JH Bowersox Meat Market. The Market was owned and operated by Joseph, his wife Clara, and their son JW Bowersox (Wilbur). The market was opened around 1900. With the growing need for quality products, in 1930 the Bowersox family decided to purchase a second farm just outside of New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This farm would eventually be used for raising beef and pork to help supply the New Bethlehem market, as well as, providing product for Wilbur’s delivery route that took him into the New Kensington, PA area. As demand continued to increase, the Bowersox family then opened an animal processing facility on Beautiful Lookout. This facility would allow them to close the loop and now become the producer, processor, and retailer of their own product, as well as, process animals for others in the area.

Eventually, the meat market and processing facility were closed, but the farm still remains in operation today. Bowersox Farms is currently home to a herd of black angus and angus influenced cattle that are, depending on their genetics, either finished in a grass finishing system or a grain finishing system. With the current demand for “Farm To Table” food products, and, in an attempt to reconnect with the retail consumer, Bowersox Meat Market LLC was reborn. Bowersox Meat Market LLC proudly and solely offers beef supplied by Bowersox Farms.
